I never get why this play has been a big deal. There have been plenty of other game winning hailmary passes in history. This game wasn't even a bowl game either. I thought Jim McMahon and BYU's performance at the 1980 holiday bowl was this and then some.

I remember buying a six pack to watch this game. I just had the feeling this was going to be a tight game. And it sure turned out to be that way. BC and Miami kept going back and forth throughout the game and, if I remeber well, there were only 28 seconds left for Doug Flutie to work his team up the field for a touchdown, He made a long pass one way, and then another long pass the other way, and then there was no choice but to go all out for it. And he freaking did it!

I love the Boston Globe article on it. "That wasn't Gerard Phelan who caught that ball, God caught that ball. " "No, God threw it. "
