@oehieze John Adams, Jefferson, Washington etc all believed slavery was an abomination. (Adams never owned slaves) You have to understand the times. Although it wasnt right to have slaves looking back now, owning slaves was like today owning TVs or cars, or refrigerators. There were alot of slave owning founding fathers that thought it was wrong. In fact Jefferson and Washington freed their slaves just before they died.

@smttysmth02gt The problem with the FF’s and Slvz is that while they did feel strongly about abolishing it; they felt it was a matter not for their hands. To them the US was an infant and to abolish slavery so early on in their minds and logic would have ruined the infstructure of their new nation. Just how much that is true and if that would have been the case is something we can never explore. Histoy is written in stone in this case, there is no need to fight the truth of it ; It happened.

@oehieze The only reason one would make a comment such as you have, is out of pure ignorance on the matter. I’d suggest reading about how the founders felt about slavery prior to posting potentially derogatory comments about them.

George Washington: I am fairly out, and you(John Adams) are fairly in. See which of us will be the happiest.
I wonder if this is similar to what James Buchanan said to Abraham Lincoln:
If you are as happy in entering the White House as I shall feel on returning to Wheatland, you are a happy man.

People always forget about him when naming the best presidents in history. They underestimate him, overestimate Jefferson, and overestimate Andrew Jackson. Honestly. How can you call someone that forced the cruel and inhumane removal of so many Native American tribes one of the best presidents ever? Linco

Adams is the one of the most underrated presidents in history.
We are doing a fake election in my honors US history class, and i think i am the only person supporting Adams. That’s shameful on their part.
For the 1st time in any history ONE man gave up his(washington) Power to another to support OUR( America) beliefs. Adams did not blame but took oath to uphold HIS American Constitution. There was no PARTY. It was America.
To be sure.
How is it that I didn’t come across the book
As A Man Thinketh until I was nearly 30, while in high school they had us reading rubbish like Death of A Salesman?
The school system is still setup to produce factory workers.

What a great scene from the HBO series! Adams, although he was grievously in error to institute the oppressive “Alien & Sedition Acts,”a forerunner of the noxious neo-Nazi “Patriot Act,” nevertheless towers over most of his pathetic successors, several of whom were liars, thieves, and murderers.

They are not to blame; the lies and ignorance are fed to them daily by teachers who do not educate them to ask questions, reason, and think for themselves. The “powers that be” don’t want an educated populace; an educated populace would immediately overthrow the tyrants in Washington D.C.

Hard to believe you said that. Did you know…I guess not, that the original Declaration of Independence included the abolition of slavery ? But, they knew it was too much too soon, and grieved the entire matter.

@Thx1138d Are you a New World Order Freemason or just deluded by the lies your teachers taught you? Burr was the target of relentless slandering by that corrupt homosexual imperalist illuminati traitor Alexander Hamilton; we would have done well with Burr. In fact, everything you’ve been taught about history is a lie.

If by liberal you mean a staunch supporter of gun rights, free-market capitalism and small government, then I must not be conservative.
You need to do a little more research on Mr. TJ, sir.
